'(22 Apr 2020) More than 1,000 people lined up to collect food and essentials from a community foodbank in a Paris suburb on Wednesday, as lockdown measures to contain the new coronavirus are thought to have affected poorer communities the hardest. In Clichy-sous-Bois volunteers from the community group AClefeu distributed soap, potatoes and other staples outside a former nightclub. AClefeu was created following the deaths of two minority teens in 2005, who were electrocuted in a power substation while fleeing police - their deaths sparked nationwide riots in France\'s suburbs and called global attention to discrimination against immigrant communities. Organisers say the community effort has helped ease tensions in the suburbs, long plagued by scattered violence. The effort comes as the French government commented on a financial bill of almost one billion euros ($1.08 billion) to help low income families during the new virus lockdown. As of Wednesday France has confirmed 159,300 infections of the new virus, with 20,829 deaths.
