'In March of 2019, I ate my way through the state of Assam in northeast India. During that time, I fell in love with Assamese cuisine. These are my top 20 Indian street foods in Assam, India!  1. Puris & Club Kachori (JB’s in Guwahati)  A soft and crispy puri and crunchy club kachori that were served with two rich and tasty aloo curries.  2. Chicken Momos (Nehru Park in Guwahati)  A soft and tasty momo that’s filled with juicy, minced chicken and served with a spicy red chili sauce!  3. Spicy Chicken Chow (Nehru Park in Guwahati)  A spicy, Indian version of Chinese noodles with chunks of chicken lollipop, chilies, carrots, and onion.  4. Chole Bhature (Fancy Bazaar in Guwahati)  A spicy dish of channa masala and a flatbread called bhatura, and pickles and onion on the side!  5. Parampara Thali (Paradise Restaurant in Guwahati)  An authentic Assamese thali with chicken, fish, mutton, pigeon with sesame curry, dal, pitika, khar, vegetable fry, and more!  6. Paneer Chili (Afresco Grand Dinner Cruise in Guwahati)  A spicy Indo-Chinese dish with big chunks of paneer, green peppers, chilies, and onions!  7. Non-Veg Indian Food (Prince Dhaba & Family Restaurant)  An incredible feast of mixed dal with paneer, dal, dry fry, fatty pork, mutton curry, & more!  8. Jungle Lunch (Florican Cottages in Manas National Park)  A lunch of yellow dal, mixed vegetable curry, chicken curry, sticky rice, tomatoes, cucumber, papad, & Indian French fries.  9. Non-Veg Assamese Thali (Khorika – The Ethnic Restaurant in Tezpur)  A 20-dish thali with a light dal, spicy eggplant, rajma, fresh vegetables, a briny fish curry, and amazing chicken & mutton curries!  10. Dabeli (Street Vendor in Tezpur)  An Indian twist on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with peanuts, a sweet fruit spread, onions, and sev on an English muffin-like bun.  11. Banana Leaf Chicken (Arunima’s Takeaway in Tezpur)  A magnificent chicken cutlet that’s cooked inside a banana leaf with chilies and has little spice but lots of banana leaf flavor!  12. Indian Thali (Maharaja Hotel in Jakhalabandha)  An amazing veg thali that contains a spicy dal fry with tomatoes, paneer masala, paneer bhurji, aloo matar gobi, & a soft & crispy puri!  13. Veg Thali (Kaziranga Orchid Park)  An enormous veg thali with sweet khar, earthy black lentils, light yellow dal, tender eggplant, tangy starfruit, & much more!  14. Jungle Assamese Thali (Local’s Home near Kaziranga National Park)  A divine, 16-item thali that consists of tiny fish, dal, rice, bamboo shoots with fish, sautéed potatoes, spicy green vegetables, & more!  15. Spicy Chicken Momos (Break Time Restaurant in Jorhat)  Delectable steamed chicken momos that are stir-fried in a spicy chili sauce and are super juicy and spicy without being overbearing!  16. Spicy Pani Puri (Street Vendor in Jorhat)  Small, crispy puris filled with a fiery mix of potato, chilies, onions, and a spiced water called pani. I also had some dry ones that were even better!  17. Raj Kachori (Crunchy Bites in Jorhat)  A large, crunchy, and hollow kachori filled with a crunchy and creamy mix of potatoes, tomatoes, onions, sev, white sauce, tamarind chutney, & masala!  18. Veg Thali + Chicken, Mutton & Pork (Chouka Ethnic Cuisine in Jorhat)  A veg Upper Assamese thali with sesame chicken curry, mutton with papaya and potatoes, and banana leaf pork on the side!  19. Veg Thali (Bitupoan Bhojonalaya Restaurant on Majuli Island)  A 10-item thali with grated bamboo chutney, dal, tiny potatoes, bony river fish, banana meat, with chicken curry on the side!  20. Pork Feast (Heritage Restaurant in Sivasagar)  A mind-blowing feast of chicken curry, bamboo pork, boiled pork, yellow dal, green fern, and aloo pitika!  I hope you enjoyed this video!
