'Making History: Victory in Vermont for GE Food Labeling'
02:24 Jul 2, 2022
'Every day, millions of Americans consume GE foods without their knowledge or consent. That\'s why more and more people like you are demanding their right to know. In fact, today more than 90 percent of Americans support GE food labels. Will you support Center for Food Safety\'s relentless campaign to secure GE labels for you and your family? We won\'t back down and neither should you. DONATE: https://salsa3.salsalabs.com/o/1881/p/salsa/donation/common/public/?donate_page_KEY=11033 As we have been in so many states, we were there when concerned consumers in Vermont wanted to draft a GE food labeling bill, and we were there when this historic legislation was signed into law by the Governor last Thursday. We will continue to work at both the state and federal levels to pass mandatory GE food labeling for as long as it takes, will you donate today to help Center for Food Safety strengthen these efforts? State legislation for GE labels is gaining momentum around the country. Since 2013, more than 60 state GE labeling bills have been introduced, and thanks to supporters like you, Vermont just passed the first bill in the country to label GE foods without a \"trigger clause.\" Donate today to help Center for Food Safety keep up the pressure for GE labeling—our team is fighting for your right to know in the courtroom, on Capitol Hill, and in your home state, but we need your help. Not surprisingly, the Grocery Manufacturers Association, Monsanto, and their allies in the biotech industry are trying to squelch this momentum by any means possible. That\'s why they backed the introduction of what we\'re calling the \"Deny Americans the Right-to-Know\" (DARK) act. The DARK act would block any federal or state action to require labels for genetically engineered foods. This is the biotech industry\'s attempt to preemptively \"kill\" states\' rights on this issue and any and all progress on GE labeling. Will you support our work to stop the biotech industry from stealing your right to know? With GE labeling bills already passed in Vermont, Connecticut, and Maine, and on the horizon in California, New York, Oregon and several other states, the biotech industry is clearly scared of what\'s ahead. They know the food movement\'s power is growing and that labeling is not a matter of \"if,\" but \"when.\" Help us keep Monsanto and the biotech industry running scared! DONATE: https://salsa3.salsalabs.com/o/1881/p/salsa/donation/common/public/?donate_page_KEY=11033 The time for labeling genetically engineered foods is now. We need your help to make this basic right—the right to know how your food is produced—a reality for all Americans.'
