'Trophic Levels and Food Pyramids are great ways to illustrate how matter and energy work up through an ecosystem, from producers to top predators and share a lot in common with food chains.   A \"trophic level\" is a number that signifies the position an organism occupies on a food pyramid, or food chain.   But why is a food pyramid shaped like, well, a pyramid? Check out the video and we\'ll break it all down for you. And just so you\'re not confused, we\'re not talking about nutritional food pyramids. No, this is a totally different animal!'
