'Subscribe for more food and travel videos: https://goo.gl/9rfeRS Laksa Kedah or Laksa Utara is from the northern state of Kedah. It’s a noodle soup with a fish based broth, thick rice noodles, shredded cucumber, various herbs like daun kesom (Vietnamese coriander), red onion and half a boiled egg. Kedah is known as the rice bowl of Malaysia and the rice noodles in a Kedah laksa are thick and bouncy and remind us a bit of udon. The fish broth is sour from the addition of tamarind and is similar to an asam laksa but more tart in flavour. The fresh vegetables and herbs add crunch and a freshness to the dish. All in all, it’s a satisfying bowl of noodles! We finish with a goblet of refreshing cendol, a common dessert or snack here in Malaysia. Made up coconut milk, shaved ice, pandan rice noodles, gula melaka and often additions like corn, kidney beans and jelly. Thomas eat the cendol with pulut or glutinous rice and Sheena opts for the original.
