I believe that it really helped them with fine motor skills at a young age, and it let them have the opportunity to explore new foods and not just having someone shove food into their mouths.   Baby Led Weaning does create a mess when you\'re letting them explore the food, but it is worth it in the end because our kids are very adventurous eaters and they are not picky eaters.
