'On 7 June 2021, WHO and FAO came together to celebrate World Food Safety Day. The day aims to draw attention and inspire action to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture, market access, tourism and sustainable development. Director General Dr Tedros joined FAO director Dr QU Dongyu and chief scientists Dr Soumya Swaminathan (WHO) and Dr Ismahane Elouafi (FAO) to discuss this year’s theme, ‘Safe food today for a healthy tomorrow’, and explore the immediate and long-term benefits of production and consumption of safe food for people, the planet and the economy.'See also:
